    The University of the Philippines Open University will be holding its 17th Commencement Exercises on 04 May 2013 at the UPOU Oblation Park in Los Baños, Laguna. Two hundred forty-four students will be conferred their degrees in 19 UPOU programs. Commissioner Maria Cynthia Rose Bautista of the Commission on Higher Education is this year’s guest speaker.

    The UP Open University reiterated its commitment to a greener environment by installing 16 Solar-powered Light-emitting Diode (LED) streetlamps along the Centennial Park in its Headquarters in Los Banos, Laguna.

  • UPOU inks MOA with SMART for Mobile Apps and Technopreneurship Course Development

    Mobile apps development and technopreneurship shall be UPOU's first MOOC offerings.


     

    The UP Open University and SMART Communications Inc., signed a memorandum of agreement on co-developing courses on Android Mobile Application Development and Technopreneurship effective for two years starting 20 February 2013.

    The course materials, which will be developed through the Creative Commons framework, will also be made available to Universities of SMART and other partner colleges that may want to offer the courses as electives.

    On the 1298th Meeting of the UP Board of Regents on 28 February 2013, Prof. Felix Librero was appointed as Professor Emeritus of the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU).

    The University of the Philippines Open University co-sponsored a wood carving competition and exhibit entitled “Wood: Art, Joy and Culture” on 21 March 2013 at the ICTDO Building in Diliman, Quezon City.
