The UP Open University will celebrate its 16th Founding Anniversary with the theme, “Learners in the Digital Age: Knowledge Creation Using Web Technologies” on February 28 to March 4, 2011 at the UPOU Headquarters in Los Baños, Laguna. This will be a week-long celebration which will incorporate the celebration of International Women's Month and the opening of the International Year of the Forests.
On February 28, the first UPOU Student Forum and Poster Presentation will be held at the UPOU Centennial Center for Digital Learning. Selected students will be presenting papers and posters on their experiences as distance learners at UPOU. Alongside this, the Anniversary exhibit will feature different multimedia resources from the university and its students, and the photo competition entries. The UPOU Learner's Hall will be inaugurated, and the day's celebration will end with the Anniversary Program and a dinner party for the UPOU partners.
UP President-Elect Alfred E. Pascual will grace the event and deliver the key note speech for the Anniversary program.
Throughout the week, there will be an open house, film showing, forum on Magna Carta for Women, launch of the Digital Literacy for Women Campaign, launch of the International Year of the Forests, Fun Run and Wellness Program. The entire week of celebration will culminate with the UPOU Service Awards.
